Jigsaw Tip: Avoid splintering with this simple trick
When cutting plywood, melamine, veneer or many other flat materials, it’s often difficult to avoid splintering and blowout from the saw teeth breaking through the edge of the workpiece.
This trick prevents splintering and blowout to result in a cleaner edge.
First, wrap masking tape around the workpiece where the cut is to be made.
Then mark the cut line with a pencil along the masking tape.
Finally, make the cut along the line.
Hint: Use a straight piece of timber as a guide to get perfectly straight cuts.
Wrap the workpiece in masking tape, then mark the tape with a pencil and cut with a jigsaw.
