The entrance area of this inner city townhouse was bare and unused. A more private rear courtyard was used as a garden, but the covered front verandah was ideal for an outdoor entertaining area.

A cabinet was designed to fit across a 2200mm wall and be used as a food prep area for an existing gas barbecue.

Featuring ample storage, it was built high enough for the edge of the barbecue to tuck underneath one end.

The cabinet was built from formply. Designed for concrete formwork, it’s strong and moisture-resistant. The film-coated black faces don’t need painting and suit the industrial look. Karri beams from Porta were used for the benchtop, as the hue of the hardwood warms up the space.
