David and Christine's Privacy Screen

After renovating their weekender at Coronet Bay in Victoria, David and Christine Mitchell built an eye-catching privacy screen.

‘We decided that, being close to the beach, we would go for a bathing box theme,’ says David.

A support frame was built and attached to the fence, then three sheets of 15mm exterior plywood, cut to bathing box shape, were attached to the frame.

Doors were added, then each box was given different cladding, including corrugated iron, timber weatherboards and a fibre-cement version called HardiePlank.

David created the eaves and fascias using 230mm HardiePlank with 70mm grooved treated pine decking, then each box was painted in a bright colour scheme.

‘We now have a privacy screen that brings the beach to us when we look at it,’ he says.
