Handyman reader Carmen Leong’s second bathroom hadn’t been updated in 20 years. Carmen decided to take on the job herself after getting expensive quotes from tradies.
‘I removed the tiles, cedar wall and ceiling lining, then did the finishing and cornice work to the plasterboard that my retired builder father helped me hang,’ says Carmen.
‘Dad also helped me lay floorboards, which I sanded and polished. Hubby tiled the shower while I tiled around the vanity and painted. It cost $2340 all up. A bargain!.’
